2. JOHN** (2)² CRAW (ROBERT** (1)¹) was born Abt. 1660 in TIVERTON, RHODE ISLAND? (B-CA 1660-65), and died June 06, 1730 in BOLTON, HARTFORD, CT (NOW TOLLAND CO.). He married REBECKAH (?) Abt. 1695.

Notes for JOHN** (2) CRAW:

JOHN CRAW lived in Newbury, MA where he paid "Head Tax" in August, 1688. He removed to Bolton, Hartford (now Tolland) Co., CT about 1690-1700, where he was one of the "Original Proprietors in the drawing of lands" in Bolton.

The allotment set off to John Craw was on an elevation or hill, in the southern part of the township, which later came to be called 'Craw's Hill'. We believe these allotments were 100 acres. This land was rough, broken country, the trend of the hills, which are near mountainous in proportion, is rather north and south direction. But John chose to take 1/2 an allotment; later there was 25 acres set off to him on Birch Mountain. A house was built in 1722.

All of his children bore Biblical names - which would indicate him to be one of the Puritans of the then New England Colony.

He died leaving his widow and eleven children. The will dated 22 Mar 1730.

John Hills, the first of the name in Longmeadow, MA. He was married to Deliverance Craw. They lived in North Bolton, where it is supposed their children were born. They moved to Longmeadow about the year 1760, and settled on a farm purchased of Israel Phelps.

Notes for EBENEZER** (5) PEASE:

Ebenezer and Rebecca first settled at Longmeadow. He was in the Continental Army for three years during the Revolution. After the war, they moved to Georgia, Franklin County, Vermont where he died at the age of 92. He was a devoted Christian from early youth - a member of the Baptist church at 18 years and remained so all of his life.
