Notes for ISAAC (1) CUMMINGS:

Colonial Families of ? by MacKenzie - Isaac Cummings supposedly an emigrant from Scotland is first mentioned in the Essex County records by the town clerk of Watertown, MA where he received a grant of land in 1636, July, 1638 he received another grant of land and in 1639 owned a house and lot in the village of Ipswich. His wife's name is unknown. He was made a Freeman in 1642 and was a resident of Topsfield, MA when he died.

His will dated 3 May 1677, mentions his son-in-law, John Pease, was to receive 30 pounds.

"On Sacrament Day, 6 October 1681, John Pease and wife, had a letter of recommendation granted to the church at Springfield, MA. He and his two oldest sons (John and Robert) families and munerous neighbors removed to Fresh Water Brook, then a part of Springfield, it became Enfield, CT in 1682.
